From our clever friends at Homegrown Shoyu. This is a Victorian small batch, hand made, next-level Shoyu made from scratch over a two year production timeline. Featuring local Wakame, it's so much more special than any soy sauce you'll come across from big operators.

FAQ

What's in the bottle?

Made with biodynamic soybeans from Slater Farm, biodynamic zanzibar (red wheat) grown by Don Haines, hand-harvested wakame,  water, salt, + koji.

What's it taste like?

This is a lighter-style soy sauce with loads of umami and an oceanic kick. Great with seafood - try it on raw or steamed fish and you’ll see what we mean! But it’s no one-trick pony - you can add it to stir-fried or steamed greens, or anywhere else you would use soy sauce.

What's the difference between shoyu vs everyday soy sauce?

Shoyu is specifically Japanese-style soy sauce, usually brewed with both soybeans and wheat, giving it a smoother, slightly sweeter, rounder flavour. Everyday “soy sauce” in the West often refers to Chinese light soy sauce, which is usually more purely salty and sharp.

Is seaweed good for you?
Yes – Wakame (a type of kelp) is naturally high in minerals like iodine, calcium, and magnesium, and has antioxidants that support health.
