Incorporating Seaweed into Christmas Dinner: A Festive Fusion of Flavor and Nutrition

We might be biased, but we reckon your main event Christmas dinner is a brilliant opportunity to introduce your extended fam to the joys of seaweed. It’s a nutrition booster, it's umami laden and it's the sea on your plate! So let’s go...

1. Seaweed-Infused Stuffing

Elevate your stuffing with seaweed! Our Ground Kelp Powder is the ideal ingredient here. Just add it into your usual recipe for a subtle umami lift!

2. Seaweed Salad as a Festive Side Dish

A fresh, vibrant seaweed salad can be a refreshing contrast to the heavier, richer dishes typically found at Christmas dinner. Wakame is  particularly well-suited for making a seaweed salad. Blanch some Wakame in 70c water for min 2 mins, then cold water rinse and add it to thinly sliced cucumber, radishes, and carrots, spring onion and toasted sesame seeds and dress it with a sesame-based vinaigrette or a simple mix of soy sauce, rice vinegar and sesame oil.

3. Kelp Salt on Roasted Vegetables

Roasting vegetables is a holiday tradition, but why not introduce a hint of the ocean to your roasted carrots, parsnips, taters or Brussels sprouts? Adding a sprinkle of our Kelp Salt to your veggies before (or after) roasting adds another dimension of flavour.

4. Smoked Kelp Butter for Bread and Rolls

A flavorful seaweed-infused butter can be an elegant touch to your bread basket at Christmas dinner. Simply blend softened butter with our Smoked Kelp - Umami Wonder Dust. Can also add in a pinch of garlic and lemon zest if that's your thing. This seaweed butter can be spread on freshly baked rolls or baguettes adding a unique twist to your bread service.

5. Top your Fish or Meat with Chilli Kelp

Just sprinkle Chilli Kelp straight on your meat either pre or post cooking. It's a medium heat sprinkle so it'll spice things up nicely without killing the party.

Creativity is key with all this. There are no rules. Just let your imagination run free and see where it takes you!
